Z czym pić herbatę?

Herbatę pije się przeważnie z innymi produktami spoźywczymi, które można zestawić w pięciu następujących grupach:
- cukier i inne słodycze (karmel, cukierki, konfitury, miód itp.)
- mleko i produkty mleczne (śmietana i mleko)
- mąka, kasza, ryż i produkty mączne (chleb, bułki, ciastka, pierniki itp.)
- cytryny i inne owoce cytrusowe, naturalne soki inne owoce (jabłka, figi, jagody, rodzynki itp.)
- przyprawy korzenne (imbir, cynamon. pieprz, kardamon, goździki, anyż, mięta, kminek itp.)

Herbata i cukier
dodanie niewielkiej ilości cukru do herbaty poprawia smak napoju, natomiast zbyt duża dawka "zagłusza" specificzny aromat herbaty; nadmiar cukru, a zwłaszcza rafinady, pochłania witaminę B1; nie powinni słodzic cukerm herbaty osoby cierpiące na schorzenia układu nerwowego, mogą natomiast pić herbatę np. z rodzynkami lub słodzić ją... miodem

Herbata i mleko
właściwości smakowe herbaty nie ulegają zniszczeniu pod wpływem mleka i jego przetworów; napar herbaciany z mlekiem daje napój o wysokiej wartości odżywczej, łatwo przyswajalny przez organizm ludzki; mleko łagodzi działanie kofeiny; mleko i herbata tworzą idealną leczniczo-odżywczą mieszankę o specificznych właściwościach aromatyczno-smakowych; herbata z mlekiem jest dobrym środkiem profilaktcznym zwłaszcza w chorobach nerek, serca, a także używa się jej jako środka wzmacniającego przey wyczerpaniu nerwowym; herbata z mlekiem to dobrze znana karmiącym matkom tzw. bawarka.

Herbata i produkty mączne oraz ich przetwory
jeśli chcemy zjeść z herbatą tort lub ciastka, albo sucharki popijamy je niewielką ilością bardzo mocnego naparu; tylko mocna herbata "dopełnia i uszlachetnia" przetwory mączne, pomaga w ich trawieniu i przyswajaniu przez organizm, a także podnosi wartość odżywczą spełniając rolę swoistego katalizatora.

Herbata i owoce
wprowadzenie owoców lub soków zmienia specyficzny aromat herbaty, a w niektórych wypadkach powoduje jego całkowitą utratę; owoce natomiast nie powodują pogorszenia właściwości leczniczych i odżywczych herbaty - wręcz przeciwnie - połączenie herbaty z owocami cytrusowymi nasila te właściwości, a napój taki lepiej przywraca utracone siły i gasi pragnienie (herbata z cytryną); połączenie herbaty z jabłkiem dostarcza organizmowi pektyn.

przyprawy, a zwłaszcza przyprawy korzenne, zmieniają całkowicie lub częsciowo aromat herbaty, ale w znacznie większym stopniu niż owoce; niewinne i raczej nieszkodliwe jest spożycie herbaty z pieprzem, miętą, kminkiem, anyżem czy imbirem; napar herbaciany z cynamonem, kardamonem, goździkami lub gałką muszkatołową może spowodować wzmożoną aktywność lub podrażnienie niekturych gruczołów wydzielania zawnętrznego.
